Welcome to Label Spotlight, where we share information on music labels who’s music we think is worth a mention. Some labels big, some labels small, some labels House, some labels Techno. In the end, it’s all about the incredible music these hard working music producers and labels are putting out. Having ran labels in the past, we understand the hard work that goes into finding great music and trying to get it to the rest of the world. We are excited at the chance to share information on these labels and exposing our listeners to some new music they might not otherwise hear.
For our first Label Spotlight we are proud to present Chicago area House music imprint, Panama Red / Parity Records. We have been playing music from Panama Red since late 2011. We love the variety of music Panama Red puts out on a consistent basis. Whether it’s solid House, jazzy vibe beats, or taking things a bit more on the Techno side – we always look forward to what they are presenting.
Panama Red / Parity Records is ran by Antonio Caballero, a solid DJ/Producer in his own right. Antonio has been producing music since his 2002 debut on Francois K’s Wave Music. Antonio started Panama Red on vinyl back in 2005 shortly after finishing school with a recording arts degree from Columbia College in Chicago. His idea was to start a house music label that captured all forms, stems, and shapes of the genre – a label that would demonstrate how the house language had spread globally and united all fellow house enthusiasts. Antonio shut things down for couple of years but brought things back with a vengeance digitally in 2011.
Antonio Caballero explains, “I feel that house has evolved and continues to stem off at a very fast pace. The ease of listening to artists’ music online now makes it very easy to connect, discover, and collaborate globally with like-minded artists. I feel that it was a perfect time to start releasing music again and I am very happy that I decided to move forward with it.” Caballero says, “I hope to offer the world a place to come discover, connect, and become part of my Panama Red label by enabling my privately selected sounds from diverse artists to influence one’s consciousness in a positive way.”
