I was more then pleasantly surprised by the Flunk – ‘Blue Monday’ (Gernot Remix) on Colortape. Personally I am not a big fan of classic tracks being reworked, especially when it’s a track that I have been listening to for 30 years, a track as legendary as New Order”s – Blue Monday. I actually like this rework ALLOT! I love the restrained low slung vibe, nice minimal guitar, great vocal treatment. I feel Flunk have done something that everyone else has missed when covering this classic track, they were able to make it fresh for me, make me want to listen to it again, and again. That my friends is no easy feat! – MM
