Merlyn Martin
Richard ‘Merlyn’ Martin is known for his progressive mixing style, he was dubbed the “Copperfield” of House and Techno by Urb Magazine (2000). Merlyn believes Techno and House are progressive genres and should always push the musical envelope. Whether it be hard banging beats, minimal tech, harder hitting house, tribal, vocal, melodic tones, or techy house, “It’s all about mixing it up, it’s the mixing and the formatting that matters most to me”. A Merlyn Martin live set is a progressive journey through the whole genre of House and Techno!
At the helm of Subdivisions since 2006, Merlyn Martin started things off with a periodic, one hour radio style podcast featuring a harder, more Progressive Techno sound. In two years, 13 episodes were posted for free download on various electronic dance music message boards reaching listeners in 70+ countries. In October 2009 the Subdivisions Global Radio Show (SGR) was reformatted to a two hour format adding a guest mix in hour two. SGR re-launched on Digitally Imported Radios Tech House channel twice monthly. In November 2013, SGR hit the 100th episode mark and will now broadcast weekly starting in January, 2014 with additional hosts Torin Schmitt and Myxzlplix.
Merlyn Martin’s newest passion is the Subdivisionsglobal.com website where he is excited to combine his production experience in commercials and television with his 25+ years of DJ’ing and 10 years of radio and music production. Subdivisionsglobal.com will continue Merlyn Martin’s mission of presenting music with integrity, vibe, and quality by educating people on the deeper sounds of electronic music. The website will feature all the back episodes of SGR. It will also feature additional music, music reviews, top 10’s, label spot lights, and the Subdivisions Dance Music Television project. Subdivisions TV are periodic segments filmed at festivals, studio interviews, and additional music surrounding the music and artist played on SGR. Subdivisions TV will start airing on SirkTV, a college cable network on 100+ college campus’ in the United States, as well as globally on youtube and the Subdivisionsglobal.com website in early 2014.
When not working on Subdivisions Merlyn Martin enjoys working in the studio on original tracks and remixes. Merlyn has produced and remixed music for such labels as Baker Street Recordings, Perfecto Black, Xela Digital/BIT Records , Stripped Digital, A-Squared Muzik and many more! Merlyn’s tracks have received support from the likes of Nick Warren, Anthony Pappa, Dave Clarke, Richie Hawtin, Luciano, the Advent and many more.
Hector Merida
Hector Merida is a California bred house & tech dj & producer. Hector Merida (whom in the past went by the moniker DJ Huggie) is best known for his tribal influenced house. Hector Merida also experiments with Trip Hop, Ambient, Techno, DnB, & Breaks when it comes to writing albums. Hector Merida doesn’t believe in limiting himself to one genre and follows his passions as an artist. Hector Merida is currently working on releasing music under his label House of Plaztek along with its sister label Funk & Bass with Brandon Funk & Patrick Boutte. However, this has not stopped Hector from releasing several albums for labels such as labels Baroque Records (UK), and Nexus Soundscapes (US). He’s also released several tracks & remixes on Music Maestro (UK), Monog Records (Portugal), Heaps (Germany), Evoked Recordings (Colorado), White Label Recordings (UK), System Recordings (US), Impeccable Elements (US), Look Ahead Records (Europe), LTHM (US).
