SGR #152 – DJ Vivona & Merlyn Martin

House Music fans are in for a treat with Subdivisions Episode 152 hosted by Merlyn Martin who handles mixing duties for hour one which features music from Junior Gee, Seven Doors, Tony Arc, D.J Dantino, Ricardo Motta & Del Horno, JEPE,  P-Ben, Ozan Kanik and many more! In hour two, we welcome back our friend DJ Vivona from Sunclock (Palermo, Italy).


About DJ Vivona: Since the age of 13, DJ Vivona’s passion for music drove him to attain a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theory from the acclaimed University of Palermo.

His dj set is an imaginative fusion between Deep and Tech sounds without any limit, until Electro vibes. His musical ispiration start from the soul of 70’s sounds, passing by the Elettro flavor of the 80’s.

DJ Vivona has played with a “who’s who” in House Music including: Seth Troxler, Tale Of Us, Craig Richards, Nic Fanciulli, Reboot, Louie Vega, Tony Humphries, Frankie Knuckles, Infinity Ink, David Morales, Dimitri From Paris, Moodymann, Miguel Campbell, Jon Cutler, Lil Louis, and Marshall Jefferson to name a few. He has hosted international superstar performances by Jamiroquai, India, Barbara Tucker, Anane, Joi Cardwell and Monique Bingham. He also played outside his country. His music touched the dancefloor of the “Club 414” in London, “Ocean Ten”, “Clevelander Hotel” and “Cafè Bustello” in Miami, and “Coco Maya”, \”The Room\” and \”Mandala\” in Playa Del Carmen (Mexico). Dj Vivona partecipated like guest at Feel Real Festival, and played with Boddhi Satva, Ivan Diaz, Afshin and Greg Gauthier at the Djoon party in Sicily.

In recent years, he’s kept busy in the studio, producing new songs and remixes including the Traxsource top 10 hit “Return To Love” singed by Joi Cardwell which included superb remixes by Frankie Knuckles & Eric Kupper on King Street Sounds, “Set Me Free” (Hi:Rise/Defected Records) which was supported by key figures such as Louie Vega, Quentin Harris, Kenny Carpenter and many more. He followed that success with “To Another Day” feat. Miss D on Super Soul Music which earned respectable chart positions and received positive feedback from some of the biggest name of the House Music industry. The single was complimented wtih remixes by Jon Cutler, N’Dinga Gaba, Frankie Feliciano, Jonathan Meyer, and Dj Spen (Basement Boys). Since then, DJ Vivona has consistently released other successfully original tracks on Tony Records (Tony Humphries), United Music Records, and King Street Sounds.  His recent remix work has included “Moment Before Dreaming”,  by The Ananda Project, and Muskidd’s “Grey Matter” featuring the incredible voice of Lazarusman.

2015 looks to be a very promising year as we’ll see much more from DJ Vivona, including his new label, Sunclock. Stay tuned!
