Christy Love, get up recordingsA bit About DJ Christy Love:

Christy Love has always had a love for music and has been immersed in the house music scene for more than 2 decades. She is one of the most sought-after DJs in NYC, largely because she consistently destroys dancefloors all over the city (and beyond) with her distinct sets comprising of a clever mixture of classic and modern house bursting with driving beats and funky bass lines; she has played a pivotal role in defining the current underground sound of New York. This DJ prowess, combined with her production work as House of Stank with long-time collaborator, W. Jeremy, and the success of their label, Get Up Recordings, has transformed Christy Love into a house music triple threat.

Originally from West Virginia, Christy moved to Philadelphia in the early 90’s, where she became a familiar face on the city’s house music scene. After hearing Cajmere’s “The Percolator” at Revival one Saturday night, her life would never be the same. She began collecting as much house records as she could get her hands on. When Christy moved to San Francisco in 1995, a local DJ believed she had such a natural ear for house music he gave her two turntables and a mixer so she could become a DJ. Over the next few years she began playing at house parties all around San Francisco and co-hosted a weekly Chicago House party at The Top, one of San Fran’s favorite underground spots. In 2000, Christy moved to NYC, where she again immersed herself into the city’s underground club scene, but this time… as a DJ. Armed with a keen musical ear, a hard-working attitude and a larger-than-life personality, Christy quickly became an integral part of the city’s underground club scene. In 2005, she began a monthly residency at Debassed, a Chicago Booty House party hosted by resident Mark Salinger (from the infamous Booty Bar parties) at the Williamsburg then hot spot, Red & Black.

That same year, Christy met fellow NYC DJ, W. Jeremy, with whom she developed a special kinship based on a shared love of all genres of music, but more specifically, house. In 2006, they started a weekly party at the infamous underground dance den, mr. Black. STANK, as the party was aptly named, played host to many of house music’s most influential DJs, including the legendary Wild Pitch Acid maestro, DJ Pierre. Together with Pierre, Christy and Jeremy launched a monthly party at STANK, dubbed “AFRO ACID: The Chicago Sessions,” where Chicago jacked New York with such world-renowned guests as Cajmere, Glenn Underground, Ron Carroll, Mark Grant and Harrison Crump.

In 2007, Christy and Jeremy began producing original music under the name, House of Stank. Over the next 2 years, their debut and sophomore tracks, “Baby Brain” and “4 Tha Freaks,” were released on DJ Pierre’s label, Afro Acid Digital. In 2008 and 2009, they released, “Make U Jack” and “Get Up, Yeah!” on Dust Traxx Chicago. Together, they have remixed artists such as The 2 Bears, 214, Johnny Dynell and Thee-O & Merlyn Martin.

In the fall of 2010, Christy and Jeremy started the label, Get Up Recordings, to give themselves and other artists the opportunity to explore musical freedoms and push through the ceiling of mediocre dance music. The label’s roster has included artists such as Heller & Farley, Inland Knights, Honey Dijon, Tedd Patterson, Up Yours, Brodanse, The Carry Nation, The Cucarachas, Quentin Harris, Kim Ann Foxman, David Harness, Johnny Fiasco, Automagic, House of Stank and countless other established and up-and-coming artists.
